C**P REVIEW

From Norman Records..Not sure if its good or bad!
"Now I have the new single 'Jane Jane' by GRAND UNION on People Tree. Jizz Jazzy bluesy do with lilting female vocals and accomplished harmonies. Clean fresh and folky. Hang on, shouldn't folk be smokey and a bit grimey? Thats why it's more jazzy i think. Clean, sultry and like a soft chilled toilet paper on a hot troubled day."

Pimms o'clock

PEOPLE TREE10" // £ 3.99

Hippies eh? They always rear their ugly heads when the sun comes out, going off to festivals, smoking doobies, poking fires, not washing… damn why are they having so much fun? Maybe I should lose my suit and tie and once again succumb to the beauty of nature – jumping in streams and washing my hair with herbal essences shampoo just like the advert… Grand Union put on a brave face for Swampy types – ‘Jane Jane’ is a four track ep with heart and a big smile – perfect for when the sun (and the barbecue) comes out. You know the score I think, folky, jazzy stuff – the sort of music that really defines the Big Chill festival, but that’s actually very nice to listen to. It’s quite an achievement that the band has pulled this off without sounding contrived, there seems to be a joyous sentiment which carries through the four tracks, elevating the band quite far above their peers. Best served with a tall glass of icy Pimms. ____________________________________________________________________________________
